Do you know anyone… that is an ‘Addict?’ If you say no you are probably not thinking correctly. The group “AA” [Alcoholics Anonymous] states that “If” you cannot go without an alcoholic drink for more than…‘two weeks’… then you are an alcoholic. There are many other types of addictions that many do not consider so. Have you ever heard the saying… ‘Shop till you drop?” That in itself is an addiction. How about the Entertainment Center with the Large Screen and blue ray player and that HD Cable system? All these could be considered an addiction, even though you may call it entertainment.
(Luke 16:13) No servant = can serve = two masters. = For either = he will hate the one = and love the other, = or else = he will hold to the one = and despise the other. = You cannot serve = God = and mammon.
This word mammon… is a word picture for the World’s System. Surely if you have children, you will not allow them to see ‘Pornography’. You protect their ‘hearts & minds’ from the perversion of sexuality. Why criminals and stealing and adultery… is the basis for “Entertainment TV and Videos”… boggles my mind. The computer term… “GI-GO”… is applicable here. “Garbage In – Garbage Out!” Our minds will either approve or disapprove… what we choose to watch, hear and do.
(Romans 2:15) who show = the work of the Law = written in their hearts, = their conscience = also bearing witness, = and = the thoughts = between one another = accusing = or even = excusing = one another,
Anyone can justify anything… they do. But does that make it right? Well everyone is doing it, so it must be “OK?” “Absolutely Not!” Perhaps you have seen those “Cop” programs on TV? Someone is always trying to evade, escape and make excuses… why they broke the Law. Did you know that the sale of… “Illegal Drugs”… is a “Four –Trillion” dollar industry? But most will readily say that there is nothing wrong with a little… ‘Pot! [Marijuana]’ Really…? That gateway drug can be directly linked to harder drugs.
(Isaiah 5:20) Woe to those = who call = evil good = and = good evil; = who put = darkness for light = and = light for darkness; = who put = bitter for sweet = and = sweet for bitter!
Most will justify… their actions, when stopped by a ‘Radar Speed Trap.’ Many will simply say, I did not know I was going that fast. In reality we choose ‘how fast’ to drive. There are no ‘gremlins’ that operate our gas pedal, it is only “US!” You cannot ‘honestly’ say, I was distracted because of this or that. We have “Free Will”… and every decision is a choice. So is speeding an addiction? IF it is… what then is the “Remedy?” Will Incarceration in a Psychiatric Facility cure You…? Absolutely Not! Speeding is simply… Your Choice!
(Job 9:20) If I justify myself, = my own mouth = shall condemn me; = though [I say] I am perfect, = He [God] = shall declare me = perverse.
Many times I have heard… someone say I am a recovering Addict. What they are really saying is that… “Society had deemed my… ‘Wrong choices’… an Addiction!” Life is merely a series of choices. Some learn as a child… the consequences… of wrong decisions. I was not yet three, but still I remember the burns on my fingers… from touching that hot burner. Somehow that word “NO”… spurred me onto… touch it anyway. So very quickly, I learned my lesson.
(1Thessalonians 5:21) Prove = all = things, = hold fast = to the good.
What are the principles… that speak against the “Wrong Philosophy of Addictions?” Some will simply make the excuse… ‘no one’… ever told me it was wrong. Or the most popular one… “Everyone is doing it!” Well, you know, I don’t want to be called a… ‘Bible Thumper!’ Or probably the greatest excuse of all time… ‘That’s your Opinion!” All these are simply an excuse… for wrong decision making. Or even the one that the comedian, Flip Wilson used to say… ‘The Devil made me do it!’ But he did not… it was simply… your choice!
(James 1:13-to-16) Let no one = being tempted = say, = I am tempted from God. = For God is not tempted by evils, = and = He tempts = no one.
(Jas 1:14) But = “each one” = is tempted = by his [own] lusts, = being drawn away = and = seduced = by them.
(Jas 1:15) Then = when lust = has conceived, = it brings forth sin. = And sin, = when it is = fully formed [entrenched], = brings forth death.
(Jas 1:16) Do not err, = my beloved brothers.
Did you notice… “Each ONE?” This simply validates the… ‘Human Free Will’. Life is always a series of… “Choices!” We are offered options in every situation and no one ever looks at the price to be paid… for those “Wrong choices!” We do not have ‘Cruise Controls’ on our will, nor can we blame ‘others’ for our personal choices. Perhaps as an adult… you remember as a child… how your mother dressed you? You may not have had a choice as a child… but as an adult… every choice is yours and… “Only Yours!”
(Romans 6:16) Don't you know = that when = you = offer yourselves to someone = as obedient slaves, = you are slaves = of the one = you obey = either of sin [self], = which leads to death, = or = of obedience [To God’s Word], = which leads = to righteousness?
Life Choices… are simply “Your Choice!” No one forced you to buy that… “House you Own!” Or should I say… that owns you as… “You and the Millions”… who are in mortgage default and do now know what to do next? One of my favorite TV programs is… “Repo Man”. How easy is it to LIE… when they hook up the Tow Truck to their Car? The ‘repo’ people always discuss, on the show, how far behind the people are on their payments. Most are more than three months and some have been hiding their cars for more than a year. Yet the owners say… I just made a payment! … “LIE!” There would be no… ‘Order to Reposes’… if they were not in default!
(Galatians 6:7) Do not = be deceived, = God = is not mocked. = For whatever = a man sows, = that he also will reap.
Often times people… are taken into a situation by their… ‘wants’… rather than their… ‘needs’. The… “I Owe it to Myself”… attitude has caused many to purchase what they could not afford. Most do not want to hear… “Less is More!” Did you notice how the latest technology in… “Sleep Science” has taken the market in bedding sales? May I suggest, “It is not the ‘Bed’… but the “Debt”… that keeps one from falling asleep soundly!” These pressures, from long and short term… “Wrong Decisions”… is what which, takes one’s sleep from them.
(1Timothy 1:19) holding faith = and = a good conscience, = which some = have put away = and = made shipwreck = as to faith.
Remember your Mind… will often justify your actions. Wrong Decisions, especially “Hurried Ones” will have long term consequences that one may regret for some time. Hollywood will often “NOT” tell us about those long term consequences. There was a radio program I was listening to about a “45-year old” woman, who was a virgin all her life. She had made the decision to remain single till she was married. She started seeing an acquaintance that did not share her convictions. Her loneness allowed her to make… the wrong decisions. She now will carry… “Herpes” to her death bed. He soon left her, after he got what he wanted.
(1Timothy 5:24) Some men's sins = are open = beforehand, = going before = to judgment. = And = ‘some’ = they also = follow after.
Many think that Sex… is casual and should be treated as ‘any’ other want! They will not even look at the STD’S [Sexually Transmitted Diseases] at the CDC [Center for Disease Control] web site. Remember there is “No Cure for Aids”… it is a Death Sentence! Not only do you have the physical aspects of Sex… but it has “Spiritual & Emotional” components. It will always be a choice… “Your Choice!” Well… you know I was ‘addicted’ and had no other choice… will not stand before the God of the Bible… with Whom, we will all deal with.
(1Corinthains 6:18-19-20) Keep on = running away from = “sexual immorality”. = Any other sin = that a person commits = is outside his body, = but the person = who sins sexually = sins against = his own body.
(1Cor 6:19) You know that = your body = is a sanctuary = of the Holy Spirit = Who is in you, = Whom you have received from God, = don't you? = You = “do not” = belong to yourselves,
(1Cor 6:20) because you were = bought for a price. = Therefore, = glorify God = with your bodies.
These Bible Verses… will “NOT” cover any excuse for “Addictions” You are not your own, “IF”, you belong to Christ Jesus. You were bought with His Precious Blood and are responsible to, act accordingly. Perhaps you do not know Him personally…? He is waiting for you to come to Him on His terms. A simple ‘Faith Belief’… in that He has paid for all you “Sin/Sins”… past, present and future, is ‘your’ decision. But that will not absolve you of “Your Wrong Decisions!” You will and can have peace… in a new crop that you plant.
(Galatians 6:9) But we = should not = lose heart = in well-doing, = for in due season = we shall reap, = if we do not faint.
(Romans 10:8-to-13) But what = does it say? = "The Word is near you, = even in your mouth = and in your heart"; = that is, = the Word of Faith = which we proclaim;
(Rom 10:9) Because = “if” = you confess = the Lord Jesus, = and = believe = in your heart = that God = has raised Him = from the dead, = you shall be saved.
(Rom 10:10) For with = the heart = one believes = unto righteousness, = and = with the mouth = one confesses unto = salvation.
(Rom 10:11) For the Scripture says, = "Everyone = believing on Him = shall not = be put to shame."
(Rom 10:12) For there is = no difference = both of Jew = and of Gentile, = for the same Lord = over all = is rich = to all = who call = on Him.
(Rom 10:13) For everyone, = "whoever shall call = on the name = of the Lord = will be saved."
Prayer:
Father God, I am helpless to make the right decisions as evidenced by my life choices. I am trusting You and Christ Jesus for His debt payment for my Sin. I cannot save myself. The very best I know how… I am trusting Christ… and what He has done for me. Be Lord of my life and lead me in Your Way and Your Word… I ask this in Faith and in Jesus' Name… Amen & Amen!
