“No Weapon – 101”…Blog.
*** (Isaiah 54:17) No weapon that is formed against you shall be blessed; = and every tongue that shall rise against you in judgment, = you shall condemn. = This is the inheritance of the servants of Jehovah, = and their righteousness is from Me, = says Jehovah.
*** (Acts 17:11) These people were more receptive than those in Thessalonica. = They were very willing to receive the message, = and every day they = carefully examined the Scriptures = to see if those things were so.
Is this verse applicable for the NT Christian..? Many times I see this Bible verse posted and I wonder ‘WHY’…? Perhaps an overview of its ‘Context’, will shed some ‘understanding’ of its real meaning? First, it was written to God’s Chosen People… ‘Israel’… who were living in a ‘Back Slidden’ condition. Simply by reading through the book of Isaiah, this fact is evident. The Protection Conditions given by God… to Israel were all Conditional on Obedience!
*** (Joshua 8:34-35) And afterward = he read = all the words of the law, = the blessings and cursings, = according to = all that is written = in the book of the law.
(Josh 8:35) There was = not a word of all = that Moses commanded, = which Joshua read not = before all the congregation of Israel, = with the women, = and the little ones, = and the strangers that were conversant among them.
*** (Deuteronomy 28:1-to-14 ) And it will be, if you shall listen carefully = to the voice [Word] of Jehovah your God, = to observe = and to do = all His commandments = which I command you today, = Jehovah your God = will set you on high = above all nations of the earth.
(Deut 28:2) And = all these blessings = shall come on you = and overtake you, = if you will listen to the voice of Jehovah your God. [Read through to verse -14]
*** (Deuteronomy 28:15-to-) And it shall be, = if you will = not listen = to the voice of Jehovah your God, = to observe = and to do = all His commandments = and His statutes = which I command you today, = all these curses shall come on you and overtake you. [Read through to verse -68]
*** (Isaiah 39:6) Behold, the days come = when all that is in your house, = and that which your fathers have laid up = in store until this day, = shall be carried to Babylon. = Nothing shall be left, = says Jehovah.
All of these ‘preceding’… Bible verses are applicable, prior to Isaiah 54:17:… to the Nation Israel! Only ‘when and if’… Israel Repented… could they then have the Mercy of God… once again. Matter of Fact… Isaiah 54:17; is more Applicable… to Christ’s people ISRAEL… during the “1,000-year’; second reign here on earth. At that time… the Nation Israel will be under the “Divine Protection” of Christ Jesus… here on earth! BTY… [by the way]… “IF” this is “Applicable for TODAY”… Why did “NOT”… this “Divine Promise”… provide “Protection” – to the NT Saints… listed in these NT Bible verses?
*** (Acts 16:22-to-25) And the crowd rose up against them. = And tearing off their clothes, = the judges ordered them = to be flogged.
(Act 16:23) And after laying on them = many stripes, = they threw them into prison, commanding the jailor = to keep them safely;
(Act 16:24) who, having received such a command, = thrust them into the inner prison = and made their feet fast in the stocks.
(Act 16:25) And toward midnight = Paul and Silas = prayed and praised God in a hymn. = And the prisoners listened to them.
*** (2Corinthians 11:24-to-28) Five times = from the Jews I received = forty stripes minus one.
(2Cor 11:25) Three times = I was beaten with rods, = once I was stoned, = three times I was shipwrecked. = I have spent a night and a day = in the deep.
(2Cor 11:26) I have been in travels often; = in dangers from waters; = in dangers from robbers; = in dangers from my race[Jews]; = in dangers from the heathen; = in dangers in the city; = in dangers in the wilderness; = in dangers on the sea; = in dangers among false brothers.
(2Cor 11:27) I have been = in hardship and toil; = often in watchings; = in hunger and thirst; = often in fastings; = in cold = and nakedness;
(2Cor 11:28) besides the things outside = conspiring against me daily, = the care of all the churches.
*** (Acts 7:59-60) As they continued = to stone = Stephen, he kept praying, "Lord Jesus, receive my spirit!"
(Act 7:60) Then he knelt down and cried out with a loud voice, = "Lord, don't hold this sin against them!" = When he had said this, he died.
*** (Hebrews 11:35-to-40) Women received back their dead through a resurrection. = Others were brutally tortured = but refused to accept release, = so that they might gain a better resurrection.
(Heb 11:36) Still others = endured = taunts and floggings, = and even chains and imprisonment.
(Heb 11:37) They were stoned to death, = sawed in half, = and killed with swords. = They went around in sheepskins and goatskins. = They were needy, = oppressed, = and mistreated.
(Heb 11:38) The world wasn't worthy of them. = They wandered in deserts, mountains, caves, and holes in the ground.
(Heb 11:39) All these people = won approval for their faith = but did not receive what was promised,
(Heb 11:40) since God had planned = something better for us = so that they would not become perfect without us.
Now Paul… and ‘Other’s NT Christians’… “Never USED”… this ‘Promise’ of “Isaiah 54:17”…! Once again, this promise is for Israel… and NOT the NT Church and Believers. And it takes place… during the Reign of Christ… during His 1,000-year reign here on earth. Surely you know of Christians getting Cancer? Or that have been Killed in Automobile wrecks…? Or Christian soldiers who have died in Battle. Or have succumb to death or hurt… from “Natural and Man Made”… ‘Disasters?’ Obvious those “Covenant Promises”… to Israel were NOT for the NT Believer!
*** (Hebrews 10:10-to-18) By this will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
(Heb 10:11) And indeed every priest stands daily ministering and offering often the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins.
(Heb 10:12) But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down on the right of God,
(Heb 10:13) from then on expecting until His enemies are made His footstool.
(Heb 10:14) For by one offering = He [Jesus] =has perfected = forever = those who are sanctified.
(Heb 10:15) The Holy Spirit also is a witness to us; for after He had said before,
(Heb 10:16) "This is = the covenant = that I will make with them after those days, = says the Lord; = I will put My Laws into their hearts, = and in their minds I will write them,"
(Heb 10:17) also He adds, = "Their sins and their iniquities I will remember no more."
(Heb 10:18) Now where remission of these is, there is = no more = offering for sin.
The ‘Mosaic’ Covenant… to Israel has been ‘Replaced’… with the New Covenant, fulfilled by Christ Jesus! One Sacrifice for All Time… without the ‘Aaronic priesthood’ and those daily sacrifices! Christ Jesus is our Passover… “1Corinthians 5:7”… and our Sabbath… and all contained in the Laws, Precepts, Ordinances, Statutes… given to Israel! What more could we then need…? Why did Jesus tell His disciples… then to Buy A Sword… if they needed No Protection?
*** (Hebrews 4:14) Therefore, since we have = a Great High Priest = Who has gone through the heavens, = Jesus the Son of God, = let us continue to hold on to our confession.
(Heb 4:15) For we do not have a high priest = Who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, = but one Who in every respect = has been tempted as we are, = yet without sin.
(Heb 4:16) So let us keep on coming = with boldness = to the throne of grace, = so that we may = obtain mercy = and find grace = to help us = in our time of need.
*** (Luke 22:36) And He [Jesus] = said to them, = But now, = he who has a purse, = let him take it, = and likewise his wallet. = And he = who has = ‘no sword’, = let him sell his garment = and = ‘buy one’.
Perhaps… the next time, you see “Isaiah 54:17” used out of context… ‘Please’ share this blog… SO that the Body of Christ… those Born Again; by God’s Holy Spirit… may ‘Accurately’… communicate “His Holy Word”… to a ‘Lost & Dying’ people… who Need our Savior & Lord… “Christ JESUS!”
*** (John 10:16) I [Jesus] = have other sheep = that do not belong to this fold. = I must lead these also, = and they will listen to My voice [Word]. = So there will be one flock = and one shepherd.
Thanks, In Christ Jesus,
Roger / Jeremiah 33:3.
