“Ugly – 101” …Blog.
Recently someone asked me… “Why am I so Ugly?” Today because of the ‘Media’ and ‘Videos’ and the ‘Internet’… we are overloaded; with the visual. Many times we ‘wrongly’ compare ourselves with others. Remember the movie, “Cool Hand Luke?” Here is a song from that movie, and like most Media, they always portray the “Wrong Idea” about the God of the Bible. Too much Media input just makes one just plain… “Stupid!” We fail to reason logically and with common sense.
What is “Real Beauty”…? Is it because one looks like a Hollywood Star? Is it being the ‘Perfect 10?’ Or is it something else…? BTY… who is the real judge of what is Beauty? Did you know in the days of Rome and still today, “Overweight People” are deemed Beautiful. Even in most of Europe, beauty was not historically measured as we measure beauty today, by the Hollywood Standards. Plastic Surgery… has given a new dimension to what is ‘Beauty’ and what is… ‘Plain!’
Too many spend too much… time being exposed to the Media. We have become a nation of… “Addicts to Opinions of Others!” Doesn’t anyone; think for themselves anymore? Since when do we have to meet the physical expectations of the Media? Simply remember the words of the ‘Mother of Forest Gump’… “Stupid is as Stupid Does!” Even programs like… “Ugly Betty” and “The Biggest Looser”… have taken their place in the Media. Simply, Stop Believing what you see and hear in the… “Media!”
*** (Exodus 4:11) And Jehovah said to him, Who has made man's mouth? Or who makes the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? Have not I, Jehovah?
*** (John 9:3) Jesus answered, Neither has this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God might be revealed in him.
God, the God of the Bible… has ordained our physical attributes when we were being formed. It is part of the genetic makeup of mankind. No one of us gets to choose their parents; nor can do anything realistically to change our body type or physical structure. I still remember the jokes that adolescent tell each other; often to hurt one another. Do you want to lose 10-pounds of ugly fat? Yes…! Then cut off your head! Do you realize the truth in that silly statement? It is not the Fat or the Ugly… but HOW One comprehends one’s… “Self”…in their Mind!
*** (1Samuel 16:7) But Jehovah said to Samuel, Do not look on his face, nor on his height, because I have refused him. For He, does not see as man sees. For man looks on the outward appearance, but Jehovah looks on the heart.
*** (1Peter 3:4) Instead, it should be the inner disposition of the heart, consisting in the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great value in the sight of God.
How many of us… try and develop our inner character…? Many times, we are so tied to the opinions of others that we develop… “Stink-en Think-en!” We become slaves to the opinions and whims of others. A very long time ago, I came to the realization that I could not please everybody, nor would I even try to. Simply remember; Opinions are like Armpits, each have two and they are… sometimes, ‘Stinky!’ Simply do what is… Right & True… in God’s sight!
*** (2Corinthians 10:12) For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.
If we are not wise… then we are… “Stupid or Foolish!” Remember that is a ‘Choice’ and the “ONE”; that we make ourselves! Measure yourself with another and you will always come up short. “Roger Bannister” was the first man to run a “Four Minute Mile”. Many thought that it was physically impossible. But within six months, two others had run that same mile in a like time. The battle was in the mind and heart.
*** (Proverbs 4:23) Keep your heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.
*** (Philippians 2:5) For let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus,
If you are… a Child of God, being Born Again by His Holy Spirit… do you think your physical makeup matters to God? He has ordained your physical body, type, skin, hair [or lack thereof] and all your physical features. But perhaps you have over eaten, that is not God’s fault. He provides His grace for each & every situation of life. But he has made you… your own ‘Stewart’.
*** (1Corinthians 9:25-26-27) Everyone who enters an athletic contest practices self-control in everything. They do it to win a wreath that dies, but we to win one that never dies.
(1Cor 9:26) That is the way I run, with a clear goal in mind. That is the way I box, not like someone punching the air.
(1Cor 9:27) No, I keep on beating my body and making it my slave so that, after I have preached to others, I myself will not somehow be disqualified.
Where do you go from Here…? Ok, so you have some extra pounds that you shouldn’t have, what can you do about them? Yes, you could diet and exercise with this in mind. ‘How Long’ did it take you to gain that weight? It will take that long or longer… to lose it. Plain and simple, start now, today and don’t’ quit if you fail. Continue on to Continue on…! Make your weight a long term goal ‘to control’. One does not become Spiritual overnight. It is the same for your physical body. It is simply… “How you view yourself and Who you belong to!”
*** (1Corinthians 6:19-20) Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit in you, whom you have of God? And you are not your own,
(1Cor 6:20) for you are bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's.
*** (1Timothy 4:8) Physical exercise is of limited value, but Godliness is very dear, A pledge of life, both there and here.
A country preacher… was asked about women wearing make-up and what the Bible said about it. He simply replied… “IF the barn needs painting, paint IT!” Perhaps many have missed what the Scriptures say and instead have so listened to the country preaching? They have missed what God has said in His Word about the… “Real You?” Only when you study and live… the Word with the teachings of the Holy Spirit… will you get your focus on the right area of development…?
(2Peter 1:1-to-12) Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of our God and our Savior Jesus Christ,
(2Pet 1:2) Grace and peace be multiplied to you through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord,
(2Pet 1:3) according as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who has called us to glory and virtue,
(2Pet 1:4) through which He has given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, so that by these you might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
(2Pet 1:5) But also in this very thing, bringing in all diligence, filling out your faith with virtue, and with virtue, knowledge;
(2Pet 1:6) and with knowledge self-control, and with self-control, patience, and with patience, godliness,
(2Pet 1:7) and with godliness, brotherly kindness, and with brotherly kindness, love.
(2Pet 1:8) For if these things are in you and abound, they make you to be neither idle nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
(2Pet 1:9) For he in whom these things are not present is blind and cannot see afar off and has forgotten that he was purged from his sins in the past.
(2Pet 1:10) Therefore, brothers, rather be diligent to make your calling and election sure, for if you do these things, you shall never fall.
(2Pet 1:11) For so an entrance shall be ministered to you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
(2Pet 1:12) Therefore I will not neglect to put you always in remembrance of these things, though you know them and are established in the present truth.
Start working on these… and you will soon forget about… “Ugly!”
(Psalms 138:2) I will worship = toward Your holy temple, = and = praise Your Name = for Your loving-kindness = and = for “Your Truth's” sake; = for You [God] = have magnified = Your Word = ‘above all’ = Your Name. = [Psalms 119:18 & 1Samuel 3:21 & Deuteronomy 29:29]
