Yesterday, I… ‘Birthed’ my new computer! What a job! You see my old computer is over six years old. I upgraded it some 3 years ago, both with a new ‘Hard Drive & Ram.’ How did I move all my Documents, Programs, Pictures and ‘Stuff’… to my new computer? I could have used a ‘Network Cable’ but decided “Not TO!” Some of those malicious… Viruses, Trojans & Worms… hide resident in Photos, Music and the like. I simply used a ‘16 – Gig Jump Drive’. They are always on sale and are priced about $1 per Gig. Then I transferred the date to the JD and Virus Checked it… ‘Twice!’ I also ran ‘Spy-Bot’… to check for those hidden ‘Spyware’ traps.

How long since ‘You’ have replaced your PC…? Many are going to the Tables for the ease of use in any location. What they don’t realize is that a Wireless connection is often needed to access the Internet. Do ‘You’ have a wireless home router? Or do ‘You’ use Mac Donald’s, Star Bucks or any other outlet? I prefer the security of a direct cable link through my Cable Modem. I can isolate this by simply turning off the power strip. Never, “Absolutely NEVER”… Leave your computer ‘directly or wirelessly’… connected to the Internet! That is unless You would like to have your Identity, Banking Information, Credit Cards and other information; stolen by an “Identity Thief!” I have a friend who had hers stolen; and after 6 years and several thousand dollars in fees… finally got it straightened out.

Last week when I plugged in my computer for the ‘First Time’… I immediately checked for the ‘Active Firewall’. There used to be published manuals with the computers, but in the last 10 or so years, they have been “Electronic” ones, already placed on your PC. Along with a help screen or even the…“F1” help key… to open the onboard help menu. There usually comes a ‘60 day’ Anti – Virus program preloaded also. I immediately connect to the Internet and download the AVG free edition. Then I remove the 60 day one. Many of the new PC’s… have preloaded 60-day; ‘Trial’ programs, such as MS Office. I purchased the full program today. I also ordered the back-up CD… in case of a future system failure.

Does ‘$200’ dollars seem like an expensive program… especially when I am using it daily… for the next 6-10 years? I do not think so. The MS Office, ‘Home & Business 2010’… is well worth the price. It contains MS Word, MS Excel, MS Power Point, MS One Note; MS Outlook. In addition if one orders this before February 28, one may have for “FREE”… MS Publisher. That is a $139 program! As I am on my computer from “2–to–6” hours a day; it is perfect for me. In addition, think of how ‘You’ may expand your ‘Office Skills’ which may land ‘You’ a promotion; or even a new job? In this fast technology driven Global Economy; the more “Computer Skills & Programs”… ‘You’ know… the more secure one is in the job market. When ‘You’ stop learning… Your brain starts to “Atrophy!” Your brain is simply like your muscles… with the proper exercise & diet: ‘You’ have… the healthier one is. If ‘You’ have Children… they will need these skills; especially today and for the future.

Did ‘You’ realize that Life; is a “Learning Experience”…? We learn: “Wisdom & Knowledge & Understanding”… from those ‘Life’ experiences. We also have the Holy Word of God… to give us some of that. Just because ‘You’ may own a “Gun”… that does not give ‘You’ the “Wisdom & Knowledge”… to use it “Safely & Securely!” The same is true with a “Driver’s License!” You have the legal right to “Drive”… but do ‘You’ have the Wisdom: to Drive the “Posted Speed Limit”…? I have some Christian friends… “Who Do Not!” I sometimes wonder ‘If’ they are even “Truly Born Again”… by the Holy Spirit of God?

Because of the Economy and… all the funds spent on Christmas past; there are some real deals out there. There are even some ‘Lap Top’ deals comparable to those of a Desk Top… and with the same features. One has to ‘search & pray’… for such opportunities. If You are willing to wait… ‘You’ can find what one wants. Having patience and God’s Wisdom… will give You His Peace. Just perhaps it is “Not in His Plan”… for ‘You’ to have one, “Now?” It is “Always Right”… to wait on Him!
