“Internet Addiction – 101”… Blog.

Thank you for asking…! FB and Other Social Internet Sites… are a lot like ‘Pornography!’ You get Thrills… and the Mental, Emotional and Physiological KUDOS… without any Real Commitment. I find that I must discipline myself or else I would or could spend all day on the Internet. There are “City Cams”… all over the world and one can travel and visit them on the Internet. But like any good thing… it can get away from you or tie you up.

A friend of mine… and his wife had been married for 12 years. They both had internet site accounts and spent considerable time “On LINE”… when they should have been developing and nurturing… One Another! Soon the wife started acting indifferent to her husband and two children, a boy 7 and a girl 4. Just as a radical change in behavior of Adolescents may be related to drugs… so the same in adults may be the same indication of Internet Addiction.

*** (Romans 6:16) Don't you know that when you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one you obey-either of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness?

Long story short… she left her husband for a guy she met on the Internet. Six weeks later, she came home to her husband and asked if they could work out thing, because of their children. Her husband forgave her and they started again to rebuild their family. The danger sign was that she never left off… from the internet. Within months she again left… and he filed for divorce and custody of their children. Within months she came back… but this time he was not fooled.

*** (James 1:14-15-16) But each one is tempted by his lusts, being drawn away and seduced by them.
(Jas 1:15) Then when lust has conceived, it brings forth sin. And sin, when it is fully formed, brings forth death.
(Jas 1:16) Do not err, my beloved brothers.

Almost like ‘anything’ in life… it can become Addicting. How you manage your time and leisure can be an indication of self discipline. It is when we allow… things… to run us, is when we get into trouble. Sports, Movies and dare I say… “Shopping”… can be an addiction. When a man has to have… Sports Under ware… that is a sure sign of Addiction. When a woman will Only… use a Gucci purse or Prada shows… that too can be a sign of Addiction! …LOL!

I recommend this movie… but must caution there is one scene an overnight stay of sexual sin. The general spirit of this move is to show the Addiction that clothes and fashion… become god [small-g] in ourselves by what we wear or do. Cars, Employment, Friends and even our Houses can become an addiction in our lives. Our free will enables us to take and make such choices. No one forces them onto us… it always remains… “Our Choice!”

We are All... Put to the TEST. But it Never Comes in the Form or at the Point, or in the Form we would prefer, Does It?

This is from a movie… “The Edge”. Again please allow me to caution you, this movie has profanity in it. The first time I saw it… was on the television and there was no profanity. This movie is filled with the conflict between… Right & Wrong… in the lives of two men. I can recommend it as I have purchased the DVD and seen it about 10 or more times. “Why is the rabbit unafraid?” “Because he is smarter than the Panther!” There are many options to see movies without profanity. Simply “Google = movies without profanity” and you will see the Links.

When one is Born Again… by the Holy Spirit of God = their focus on life changes. They then have the Choice… to choose between “Good & Evil”… “Right & Wrong.” Christ Jesus sets the True Believer… free from both the “Power of Sin” and the “Penalty of Sin”. But their free will never leaves them. Without a daily feeding in the Word of God… the Christian will soon succumb to his or her former desires.

*** (2Corinthians 4:16) For this cause we do not faint; but though our outward man perishes, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day.

*** (1Peter 4:3-4) For you spent enough time in the past doing what the gentiles like to do, living in sensuality, sinful desires, drunkenness, wild celebrations, drinking parties, and detestable idolatry.
(1Pet 4:4) They insult you now because they are surprised that you are no longer joining them in the same excesses of wild living.

Sorry I am not… your Father nor your Husband nor your Boyfriend. Besides IF I were, you would not want me to tell you what to do or not to do! EACH OF US… must develop that self discipline to control our Internet desires. Really there is the potential of Good & Evil… with the internet use. We simply have to control ourselves… and Not Let the Internet… Control US. One sure way is NOT to do surveys! Do not sign up for Freebies! Does it sound too good to be true? Then it surely is as there is… No Free Lunch!

*** (1Corinthians 9:24-to-27) You know that in a race all the runners run but only one wins the prize, don't you? You must run in such a way that you may be victorious.
(1Cor 9:25) Everyone who enters an athletic contest practices self-control in everything. They do it to win a wreath that dies, but we to win one that never dies.
(1Cor 9:26) That is the way I run, with a clear goal in mind. That is the way I box, not like someone punching the air.
(1Cor 9:27) No, I keep on beating my body and making it my slave so that, after I have preached to others, I myself will not somehow be disqualified.

Thanks for Asking… Roger.
